First Monday was pleased to host Dr. Gary Shiffman.
A bit different from our other speakers – Dr. Shiffman spoke about the need to accept and move towards AI since within 5-10 years it will be a part of the economy. He gave an overview of our South Carolina history to where we are today making every list of Best Places to Live and how that will impact our future. Dr. Shiffman led AI research and development work for over a decade, performing on DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency)-funded projects. He co-founded two AI-based software companies. He is now a professor of economics at Clemson University.
