Code of Conduct for First Monday in Greenville Meetings

Please note that the Poinsett Club is a private club, and we are guests of a member. To maintain our good standing with the Club and to be proper guests, please note the following.

Please do not enter the room until 11:35 am so the Poinsett staff can set up the room and our team can set up to serve you.

Be kind to our table workers. Do not toss your check at them and walk away – please wait to be signed in so we can say hello.

While we do not prohibit saving seats, please be mindful that if your guest does not arrive by 12 noon when we start, the seat must be reopened for others.

Food, please be understanding of the Poinsett Club’s menu choices. While we try to accommodate special diets, please note the Club (due to our contract) is not required to offer any special meals. We try to accommodate your meal choice when you register in advance. Nothing can be done on the day of, unless you agree to an extra charge, since they charge us.

Note: the Club only provides enough food items for the table; please do not take more than one item from the bread tray, cookie tray, etc.

We are a respectful group – please do not speak loudly or speak out loud to your neighbor when someone is at the microphone, whether it is Deb, Paul, Heather, or our Guest Speaker. This disrupts our meeting.

Do not argue with our Speaker – some of our speakers may not reflect the views of First Monday. We bring speakers who, by their position or job, may affect your everyday life. If you do not like what is being said, listen politely, disagree quietly… and note that we might not be the organization for you.

Do not bring notebooks, folders, literature, etc., on your topic/interest/issue du jour expecting our speakers, members, or guests of 1st Monday to take it, we are not a venue for your personal interest.

No literature on the tables. Please check with Deb, Paul, or Heather before you put any literature on the tables.

Please note that while we are not the Republican Party, we are long-time Republicans who enjoy listening to a speaker, eating a good meal, and making friends. We have been in Greenville for over 30 years. All are welcome to our meetings, but please know we will not tolerate anyone who is disruptive, disrespectful, or unkind to the 1st Monday team, the Poinsett Club team, or your tablemates. If you do not abide by our rules, you will be removed and not invited back.

At First Monday, we treat everyone with respect and courtesy. Thank you for continuing the civility we have all become accustomed to.
